I am delighted to be part of the Haverigg Community Skills Centre and Forests with Impact (FWI) Project. This is a voluntary role and brings me a good deal of personal fulfilment to be involved, as well as helping to create potential benefits for this beautiful part of our country – Cumbria.
The Haverigg Community Skills Centre is working together with HMP Haverigg, the third sector, training and industry experts to help develop an innovative skills training centre for local residents, to help upskill local people and improve social mobility for the future. We explore how inclusive learning and access to sustainable employment can be delivered together through opportunities and innovative collaboration.
The Forests with Impact project has is an amazing project to be involved in and it is wonderful that our work is being recognised with a Highly Commended Award at the ICW Collaborative Working Awards 2023. We travelled down to attend the prizegiving at the House of Lords in November. It was a cold but clear night, and the view of the Thames, Big Ben and the London Eye, all lit up, was breathtaking. As well as being an opportunity to network and re-connect with friends, it was a real boost to help promote our project even more as we launch into the next phase.
Sarah MacGregor, Head of Social Impact and Veteran Ambassador for Sunbelt Rentals, and member of our Team, was ecstatic: “We are thrilled to represent Forests With Impact and are so excited to have scooped thisICW Award! This is an exciting, industry-led collaboration, which is now also award winning – it is soon to launch officially and we can’t wait to share all the details of this innovative and groundbreaking programme, so watch this space!”
I can’t wait to share more news about the projects in 2024 – it as an exciting and rewarding time for all! Watch out for more news on this project! Coming soon – #ForestsWithImpact #AwardWinners #ICW #Collaboration
